well if you think you enjoy working with kids and you know you wouldn't eventally be bugged by them, then go for it! It also depends on what grades you want to work with, do you want more like elementry or highschool?
Well, I think the greatest benefit would be that you could help children sort through whatever issues or problems they may be dealing with. I think it would even better if you went to an inner city, because that's where children could really benefit from a counselor.
I dunno, you didn't give us alot of details. I'd suggest two steps: 1) go to http://www.bls.gov/oco/ocos067.htm and see if it fits your expectations. 2) go back this summer and have a chat with your old school counselor. After that, you might want to consider doing a sort of inventory of the things you're good at and enjoy (write it up in cv format) and deciding if the job is a good match for you Good Luck, and happy new years!
