How does career counseling work? I need a new direction.?

- You go and talk to a counselor. You two discuss what things you like to do, how do you see yourself in the future and what kind of lifestyle would you like to have. Example: If you like meeting new people, going to new places and so forth, you may look for a career in business. If you're looking for a laid-back career, like art and prefer to work alone, a career in a gallery or museum might be better. Good luck!
- they may also give you tests (such as Myer-Briggs Type Indicator) that can determine your personality type and then they look at their database to see in which field the people of the same type are most satisfied.
- You might try IOSCAR; it's free. It asks you questions and suggests occupations based on your interests, knowledge, skills, and abilities. It also has a lot of information on opportunities in different occupations. http://www.ioscar.org/tx/ http://www.ioscar.org/tx/ip/ipinstruct.asp
