Help me! Career counseling for environmental sciences.?

Four the past four years I have been working on a BA in biology in order to go to med school. I graduate at the end of this year. However, I no longer want to be an MD. I realize I care more about the environment than I do the people who are destroying it. I want to have a career with which I would be able to do some good in the world. And maybe I can go back home to Pakistan or to Nigeria (where I grew up) and help the environmental situation there. Anyway. I really don't know what to do. All my life I have wanted to be a doctor. This is all too new to me. Any suggestions? Yup. I don't care about people as I do about the environment or animals. Seriously. Do you think me daft or something? I wouldn't be asking this question if I wasn't serious. (This is for the person who insists I am full of vinegar. Whatever that means.)

  1. Hey! That's my major! : ) A major in biology can get you a LOT of places. And it can definitely get you into a good Environmental Sciences Masters program. With environmental sciences you can focus on... anything! Groundwater, geology, oceanic studies, air quality, whatever. There's tons of information out there! Here's the definition: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Environmental_science Some resources for jobs are: http://www.eco.org/ http://www.ejobs.org/ And more about the major: http://careerservices.rutgers.edu/Menvironment.html
  2. go on to med. school and get real. your young and full of vinegar, and you dont really know what you want to do, stick to your first thought. do you really not care about people? then who are you saving the environment for, the grass hoppers?
