Now I am working to find out the advantages of adolescent career planning in the middle and high school in the U.S. I think this will benefit the development of Chinese students. Now I need some advice! (1) Does the government play a positive role in adolescent career planning? Is there any website describing the detailed information? (2) Does every middle school or high school have vocational counselors? If students go to ask for advice, what will the counselors do? Will they give personality assessment for the students? (3) Will the students and parents go to specialized institutions for further advices?

I was thinking about a financial planning career. Can someone help me out with the following questions? There are so many different financial planning companies to choose from, how do you pick the right one? Does anyone have an experience with being a financial planner that could give me some insight as to what to expect besides the brochures that the companies supply? Is it worth getting into? It would also be nice to get someones email or contact info to maybe talk more with them. Please someone help me out a little. Thanks
Career in financial planning? I'm debating toward an "ol faithful" government job or a career as a financial planner. I'm graduating with a degree in financial planning in less than a year. I've always been interested in helping people with their finances. I'm a little worried about how difficult it will be to acquire new clients. I'm not agressive and don't like bothering people. Also, what happens if the country goes in a recession while I'm trying to start out. I'm planning on living/working around Grand Rapids, Michigan or a close city that is about half the size. I've heard good and bad things about different firms, what do you think? I know that only I can decide which to do, but I would like some input from some current financial planners. Thanks! Also, with today's online society, can you be a financial planner "on the side" part-time. Is there a way have all the necessary resources without being affiliated with a firm?
Planning on pursuing a career as a Canadian Foreign Service Officer, is an anthropology major a good idea? I'm currently planning on pursuing a career as a Canadian Foreign Service Officer. My goal is to work for Citizenship and Immigration Canada as an immigration officer. Is social/cultural anthropology a good idea for a major? I'm bilingual, so I wouldn't minor in French, but would it be a good idea to minor in a different foreign language? If anthropology isn't a good path to follow, then what discipline should I pursue that would benefit the chances I have of becoming an FSO. Any advice is appreciated.

Kind of like a wedding planner: plan and schedule different events and activities, but as a full time job. Does anyone know any kind of career like this (the title, please; and NOT a wedding planner) and maybe where you could be hired doing it? Thanks!

Career that involves planning/organizing and/or drawing letters? This question is kind of specific.. I've realized lately that I'm really interested in organizing things. For example, putting things into alphabetical order and similar things, not cleaning-organizing. I've also realized that I'm pretty talented with drawing letters and/or making collages. Not actually drawing-drawing, not drawing people or animals, but designing title pages and things like that. I'm not sure if I'm interested in designing advertisements and things like that though.. I'm interested in careers that involve those things. Anybody know a career that involves one of these things?
A career in event planning -- education needed? Hi. I'm looking into a career in the event planning field.. I want to become a special events coordinator. I was wondering what kind of education is needed to get a career in this field? Like what sorts of majors should I be looking into?
Will less than perfect credit ruin my chance at a career in financial planning? I am 24 years old, and attend community college. I have a charge off and a few collections on my credit report. Considering what financial planners do, do I even have a chance at a career as one? Are firms generally only looking for people with perfect credit, or can I spend the next few years strengthening my report and still have a shot?
Career planning and grades.? Lately we have been doing a lot of stuff concerning career planning at school. I've been really worried about my grades though. Help with University/Career Planning (Canada)? I am currently 15, but planning ahead for my future, I plan to go to either Carleton or University of Ottawa for Political Science, then attend University of Toronto for a degree in Law. I hope to be around 25 when I am finished school. Law, and politics has always interested me but it has been a life long dream for me to become a police officer as well. If I could be a politician, lawyer and cop, my life would be perfect. My plan is not to take the Bar Exam right away but then have it ready in case I want a career change. Here are my questions do you think this is a waste if all i am going to do is be a police officer without yet doing the Bar Exam? I have a strange feeling thats exactly what my parents will say. Also feel free to comment on my school choices. I live in South Western Ontario, upper middle to upper class and am working on becoming fluent in French, I have an 80% to 85% average.
Planning a military/civilian career? I would like to join the Coast Guard Reserve. I would like to start attending the Coast Guard Academy at 18. After I graduate and my 5-year active duty is ended (possibly longer than 8 years, I want to apply for an engineering post-graduate program and also get a masters in engineering. I would like to also attend flight school and get Naval aviator wings) can I go back to reserve or another branch in the military (navy or air force) and keep the same rank? After rising to a rank of Lieutenant Commander/Major or higher, I plan on retiring from the military and pursuing a civilian career in aviation engineering. Is this a good career plan? I forgot: Am I still getting paid when I at the engineering post-graduate program and getting a masters in engineering? Do they count as additional years to my service? Can I get promoted during that time, or will I have to stay an Ensign?
Career planning -> The thought process? I'm a senior in high school, I have a few ideas on what "general" area I am interested in pursuing a career in, but I don't really know where/how to determine which career/job interests me most. Is it important to know what I want to do before going into college? How would I be able to find out what I might want to do with my life while I am in college?
career planning/search? I am thinking about what i might want to be when i grow up. My school had a website where i can go to that has tons of questions. It's like a career search. At the end of the quiz, it gives us ideas on what our career might be according to our responses. Does anyone know any websites that i can go to for free that does this?
Career Planning: Relocation? I am currently a resident of Houston, and I am planning on moving at the end of May to Dallas with my fiance. Now I've done some research and realize that I will get a cut in pay because of Dallas' cost of living/job economy. And I'm fine with that. I'm really paranoid that I won't get everything taken care of before my move (like finding my 3-yr-old a new daycare, having money for the move, getting all my banking and personal records transferred over, dealing with my ex-husband and custody issues, etc). My fiance tells me that I need to calm down and take one step at a time and that he is not going to leave me hanging, he will do everything that needs to be done from his end to make the transition a smooth one. But I just feel accountable for my actions, and having a job guaranteed before I arrive to begin providing for our life together as opposed to me being without one, would make me feel settled. Should I begin my job search now or wait until it gets closer to my projected move?

CPA for financial planning career? I entered public accounting a few months ago with the intention of getting my CPA. My ultimate goal was to eventually move into personal financial planning. However, I am questioning now whether it makes sense to spend all this time studying for the CPA and gaining the experience when I really don't have to get the CPA to do the financial planning...any insight? Another side of me feels like it would be something to fall back on if I find I am not a successful sales person (as I know that i what a lot of financial planning is in the beginning) and the CPA would hopefully convince potential clients I am more credible. Any thoughts on whether it's beneficial if I don't know that I'll really use it?
Gaining experience in the Wedding Planning career area? Can anyone tell me how I can find internships or even work for nothing in order to gain real-world experience as a wedding planner? I will be finishing up Penn Foster Online's bridal consulting certificate program in about a month. I'm in the chicago area (about 50 miles) southwest) I'm also working on a degree in marketting at the local community college so maybe that will help?
